One year later...

Well, as of April 6th I have had a blog for one full year!! Can't believe I have kept it up as I have. It definitely helps that this helps keep the out of town family included in our happenings.

This post is a mish-mash of sorts. I want to start with a report card of sorts for my yearly progress at making friends. So, in true SAHM fashion I created a report card for myself to fill out.

In thinking back over the past year and all the cool playdates, events, and friendships we've made, I tried to find a way to document the coolest. So I ranked the top 10 highlights of the year. Here they are:

10. Fall camp

9. BUNCO nights

8. Mardi Gras parade

7. Van Gogh painting

6. Arboretum picnics

5. Halloween costume parade

4. Spring camp

3. Summer camp

2. Second baby booms!!

1. Yo Gabba Birthday Party

Each of these highlights was a super special time spent with friends. I am thinking of making a mini-scrapbook of photos from these special times. It'll make a great book to read at bedtime, don't you think??

I am so lucky to have wonderful mom friends to experience such great moments with!!

June Progress Report: Ice skating in July???

Yesterday we had a full day. Pool playdate at L's and an afternoon play session at the play area at the mall.

While at the pool playdate I extended two invites to join us at the pool today. They both accepted, although one had to cancel because A was showing signs of allergies again.

After a nap, we headed to the Galleria's play area. It was really cool! D had a lot of fun climbing, sliding and crawling around. He got knocked down three times by some larger kids who were over the height limit. We left shortly after and went to the bottom floor to watch the ice skaters practice. D and G were fascinated!!!

Now for the Progress Report!!

30 number of days in this month
15 number of scheduled playdates we attended
18 number of invitations issued to/by me
2 number of invitations I had to turn down
1 phone number stored in my cell phone
1 friend made this month!!

I think I need to amend my original goal. Two friends a month is quite a bit, especially when you've got to upkeep the ones you have.

So I will state it now: From this point on, by official decree, one friend a month is my goal!!

Now, let's bring on July!!

May Progress Report

So I'm a day early on the progress report but I've got some time to kill. The hubster and D are keeping each other occupied and out of my hair!

Here's the stats!!

31 number of days in this month
10 number of scheduled playdates I attended
15 number of invitations issued to/by me
2 number of invitations that I had to decline
1 number of phone numbers stored in the cell phone
1 friend made this month!!

I didn't quite make my quota this month, but this was a busy month for my ladies. Many of them were vacationing and that made it difficult to get together.

Today we stayed home and had a cookout, just the three of us. Check out my husbands quick thinking. He made turkey burgers on the grill:

Wanna see my contribution??? Wait for it.......

Tomorrow we'll hit up the KC pool again and the Grands may meet us there.

See you in June!!!

Happy Memorial Day!!

April progress report

It's the end of month one. Let's see how we've done. My goal was to make 2 friends per month, remember?

Here's my #'s breakdown:

23 Number of days in challenge
11 Number of scheduled playdates I attended
7 Number of invitations made by me/extended to me
2 Number of invitations I had to decline
2 Number of groups I joined aside from my neighborhood one
2 Phone numbers stored in the cell phone
2 Friends made!

What exactly constitutes a friend? I've had time to think about this. This is a former acquaintance who I am now comfortable calling up to get together spur of the moment. I can call a friend for a favor, call to ask for advice, call to plan a fun event, whatever. I am very happy to report that I met my friend quota for this month. Both L and M have made the rank change from mere acquaintance to full on friend!

I have a list of 13 other ladies on my potential friends list. I will now focus more of my attention on these girls and see how it goes.

I will be starting May off with a neighborhood family picnic. That should get my outgoingness into overdrive! As always, pictures will be included in my report.

Ciao, April! You've been good to me...
